It's all about production for use, isn't it? Are there people who complain that Gerber does not make martini flavored baby food? That Porshe doesn't make an SUV? That Harry Potter isn't banging Hermione? That Barbie and Ken don't feature functional sexual parts?

And if there are, are they not considered to be NUTS??

What bothers me more is that companies are willing to make fundamental changes in their core properties--their flagship characters--to serve the whims of a readership that probably wouldn't be loyal in any case. Once the character (in this case Spider-Man) is changed to suit them, they'll find something else to bitch about and then move on, leaving a graveyard of wrecked characters in their hapless, feckless wake.

And the crowd they're appeasing is what 20k, 40k ?

At least the guys who own Britney Spears are appeasing dozens of millions of morons and cashing in left and right.

Hey, if it sells better they'll call a tricycle a Sports Utility Vehicle.

 QUOTE:
The Cayenne is a midsized, luxury car-based SUV with all-wheel drive. Low-range gearing and advanced electronics promise some off-road capability. It comes with a choice of engines and available adjustable ride height. Poor reliability is a disappointment.

And this is is still a clear cut sign of the impending apocalypse.

I can't understand why is it that important to grow him up.  Don't they understand it would ruin the foundation of what Peter Parker is about?

The problem with fans and Spider-Man in a nutshell is how to get them out safely.

The problem is, there is an issue with keep a character and his envoronment exactly the same.  It gets stale and you easily fall into self-parody.  Ideally, I'd liek to see characters have a 10 yr run and then fall by the wayside, tell their story and then go away, making room for new characters.
