Loved ROM. I'm still afraid of the Dire Wraiths. He was one of the first writers that I followed.

Count me as someone who loves his run on THE INCREDIBLE HULK.
Coupled with Sal Buscema art, everything up until the last 30 or so issues
is gold to me. Loved it.

I feel the same way, Matt. I loved pretty much everything Bill and Sal did
up to issue #272, the one with Rocket Raccoon. From that point on, I felt
it all went downhill.

Nice to see that they are honoring the man's work. I was a big fan of his Rom stuff.

One more huge ROM and Micronauts fan here. I'm sorry to say it, but I wasn't a regular Hulk reader back then, so I missed the Mantlo/Buscema stuff.
Good to see that Bill's getting some much-deserved recognition.

Definitely...and the first dozen issues or so, with art by Michael Golden? They were not only fun, they were beautiful.
(edited to add)...not to encourage thread drift away from Bill Mantlo--I just loves me some Michael Golden artwork. They both did terrific work on that series.

His ROM, HULK, and MICRONAUTS were a source of tremendous
entertainment, for me. This man help shaped my childhood. I sometimes
wonder what might have been, minus the tragedy, and all I see are
glorious comics like they used to make.
My respects to Bill Mantlo.
