Richard,
Heres a few more!

You da man, John!!! Thanks a million!
I truly miss the hose-fingered Beetle.
The Living Brain! I'm curious how many times he returned.
The Lizard and his gators is unbelievable. From texture to movement to
composition, it's got it all! The use of line weight across the clothing is
nothing but inspiring. I'm in heaven, realizing I've been away far too long.

Glad to help Richard. I really like the Lizard & his gator - aid too! It's also nice to know I'm not the only Living Brain fan around. I need to dig out the original issues because I could have sworn there were a few more character pin ups.

Now, THAT is a THING! What a pity that version didn't last.

Interesting that you think it's a pity, JB - I think that The Thing's paving stone look is one of the greatest and most distinctive designs in comics...so few artists - aside from Kirby and you of course - could draw it 'right'

Don't be too quick to misunderstand me, Ian. You'd have to travel a long way to find a bigger fan of the Thing's "rocky" look than me -- but the very fact that it can be called "rocky" or "paving stone" indicates where the character has gone "wrong". If Ben had emerged from the crash looking as he does today, I cannot imagine anyone dubbing him "the Thing". "Rockpile" maybe. "Sandstone". "Granite". Basically anything with a rocky motif. But he no longer has the undefinable monstrousness that would leave people stumped for anything to call him but -- as Sue did -- a "Thing". |

Aha, I see...I thought I might have got it wrong, but then thought about the way you have often returned Ben to that lumpy look and wasn't sure...thanks for the clarification

Let's read the copy on that Sandman pin-up, and contemplate later "ineterpretations" of the character.

Just another victim of the "hardcore villain becomes altruistic do-gooder trying to make amends" nonsense (Also see: Magneto and Buffy's Spike).

AMEN!
Somebody call the papers, John Harris just moved Christmas to May!
Glorious pin-ups, John. I think you're right about there being more in
Spider-Man. Thanks for sharing the wealth.

Your beyond welcome Richard! Sharing this stuff is the least I can do for this place considering all the amazing stuff J.B. and everyone else takes time to scan for us ( I was just looking through the pencils of John's Blood of the Demon stuff when I noticed your reply...fantastic stuff).
I'll post some more as I find them if you guys are still interested.
