Mr Fantastic and the Invisible Woman... the day they divorce or
experience infidelity, I am leaving comics for good, for ever.
Temporary arguments are one thing, fundamental betrayals another.

According to Bendis, Reed suspects Namor of sleeping with Sue. (Before they were married.) Blah.

Do you ever share your thoughts about the aging of these characters with
Dan Didio? It's funny because he really seems to be on a "restore DC" kick
but at the same time causing a lot of other stuff to happen to throw it off
kilter again.
I remember you mentioning that characters told you where they wanted
their story to go. (Forgive me for generalizing) This comment always
stuck with me, and I wish more writers would follow this train of thought.
When DC decided that they wanted Superboy and Wonder Girl to be an
item I thought "I don't think either of those characters really want to be
an item." I still don't. It never felt right, especially with the way both were
established in the beggining. They never wanted to be together (in my
head) in the first place, but it was decided it would be cool to get 2 or the
big 3's protege's together.

How can he write characters he has clearly never
read?

"Thus underlining something that really should never
have needed to be mentioned."-John Byrne
Which is where most writers these days fall down. It's like they want to wear the badge that says, I took Cassie's Virginity!
It's too much about what flash thing the creators can do rather than what best serves the characters.
Back in the nineties I stopped collecting comics, in the main, as I was
put off by all the foil, alternate, gimmick covers I could just get a
regular comic. Although this seems to have abated, the pop and crackle
now seems to have become oh-so much more ingrained.

Aging the characters is what causes a lot of the problems.

"According to Bendis, Reed suspects Namor of sleeping with Sue. (Before they were married.) Blah."
So Bendis blends the old sexist idea that Sue would be attracted to a jerk like Namor (just because he's so powerful) with the modern obsession of "everyone has a dark secret".

Why is it sexist to think she would be attracted to the Submariner? I could think of some things to call it, but why sexist?

Why are we supposed to "escape" into the fantasy again? To get away from the drudgery and shite in our own lives.
Comics these days are more of a mirror to the world we already live in
than a place where I could go and the only thing i had to worry about
was what punchline Spiderman would deliver while beatting the tar outta
six would be bank robbers...with pinache!

think it's time for it's M.O.T. I should get someone to have a look at
it and see if it can be fixed:-)

Considering the time frame, what kind of woman would really be attracted to The Sub-Mariner of the early FF issues? An arrogant jerk who's attacking the surface world? I'm not accusing Stan and Jack of sexism, they were writing 40 years ago for an audience of (mostly) young boys. But I don't see how you can think Sue slept with that Namor unless you've got a really low opinion of Sue.
