At work today on another 20x30 commision piece. Occured to me that some of you might like to see it as a "work in progress". This is after about 2.5 hours at the drawingboard.

The inking and well -everything- about that Sandman is top-quality! Brilliant work and a great insight.

Very nice. All things considered, I think the Hulk is sitll my favorite character. I like the fact that the Hulk is somewhat bigger than the Abomination, which he's supposed to be.

Looking back in time, I can't recall any other artist drawing the Hulk as powerful as JB did. I think this was a big improvement on the visual and obviously changed how the Hulk was portrayed in later years (very nicely by the likes of Keown and Frank...not so much other...).

Looks like Hulk's got his hands full there!

I like the speckled rendering on Sandman and Rhino's warty hide. V
effective!

Interesting to see too how much of the detail gets worked in first time
with the inks.

Do you always ink faces first before continuing with the rest of a piece?

Yes. The faces are done with a finer point pen.

I love it. That kind of old comic-book flavor will always be one of the things I enjoy in your work. You got the great ability to make me feel an amazed teenager, no matter the old I can be.

That's a nice looking piece. There's even room for a couple of frog-men minions in the background....

I know I've asked on the other ones, so I'll ask here as well - what type of 'direction' did the commissioner give for this piece? And do you ever think up titles for the stories these commissions would be telling?
