To help you thru the next month, I'll post, from time to time, pages from the deleted subplot--which may or may not be a favor!Anyway, this is one from part of that plot that was carrying me too far in to Guest Star territory. So much to cover, the X-Men were getting shunted to the side. Feel free to post comments in this thread.

Very interesting to see!
I can see the wisdom in keeping things more focussed on the X-Men, but enjoyable to read nonetheless, so thanks for sharing this with us.

Mr. Byrne, you're absolutely right. The X-Men would definitely have gotten in the way of your Spider-Man and Fantastic Four. :)

So nice to see Spider-Man drawn like a spider.
JB would have had to just call the book "Marvel Elsewhen" and let him run through any and all team or hero combination that occurred to him. =)

How utterly cool! There is a whole JB FF/Spider-man story that partially exists.
What's so amazing about all this is that if someone else were to create a few panels of art and a short side-plot it might feel forced or bizarre...but when JB does it, the character's speak with their own proper voices, and move and look like themselves. That's a kind of creator's magic that occurs I find so gripping. There is LIFE in these characters again---their story continues.
It's truly amazing---a real gift Mr. Byrne is using his time on Earth to put in the hard work to bring them back for us. How can you not love this Spiderman, and this Sue Storm? (...and of course, most importantly, those X-men!)
Thank you. Methadone indeed.

That's an exciting page. It amazes me that you can put so much effort into a page and then not use it

I don’t like to think of myself as a perfectionist—that way lies madness—but every so often it becomes necessary to “kill the baby” to get something back on course.

Nice! I love the body language of Susan when she sees the heart.

Just make sure you eat every baby that you kill, JB.
After all, you have a reputation to maintain!

Welp, now I want a Spidey / Sue 12-issue maxi-series. You write them as such great teammates in just a few panels.
Loving this, but I can see why it wouldn't fit in an X-Men book. Maybe this is a backup untold tale for the Elsewhen Annual ;)
