JB:  Did you have a plan for rescuing Talisman that didn't involve The Beyonder?

So, remember the thread about mental associations with comics?

I gleamed through this thread, then went about doing more work elsewhere. After about 5 minutes or so, I just realized, the song "I Ain't Missing You" by John Waite has been playing in the back of my mind the whole time. Why the hell would I be thinking of that song?? Then I realized - that song was a top 10 pop song around the time that AF#28 came out....I guess I was subliminally taking myself back to '85 after looking at these pages.

Damn you, Byrne!

The end of an era. *sob*

Kudos, JB. A solid end to a fantastic run. No one else has ever done those characters justice.

It also makes me sad to see what appears to be JB's proposed "new" (retro) Hulk on that editorial page. Ah, what might have been...

"As if the Beyonder wasn't bad enough..."

Truer words have never been spoken!

I thought about posting a page or two from Secret Wars, but couldn't think of a worse way to ruin this thread.

The Beyonder does seem to have Steve Rogers' face, though not his physique....remember, the Beyonder based his human form on Captain America...then tacked on a Jerri Curl.

And that's that!  Thanks one more time to JB.  I loved this series, and I think (like some others here) that it will always be my favorite series. It was different than anything else I had ever read, and I really believe I am still a comics fan today because of those AF issues.

Now, on to The Hulk!
