Thanks for sharing those pages Ryan. Very nice.
Enjoyed this issue. Great to see new subplots. I enjoyed seeing Marrina again. You just knew that the Sub-Mariner wouldn't be that far behind. Always enjoyed seeing JB work with him. Would have loved to see more of him in the Fantastic Four during his run.

"I'm older than JB was when he did AF? " - Oh man! Me too!
"... To Consider. To Study. To Grow." - Great panel!
Thanks for posting the b&w version in its glory.
I think I've turned the corner and now prefer my comics in b&w. The collecting of original art has probably contributed to the cultivation of that preference.

This issue reminds me of what I don't like about TV's "Heroes" series -- the writers have ripped off a slew of sources with no credit to anyone except themselves.
I'm not saying JB was the FIRST to use a split personality and a mirror, etc -- but that Aurora mirror scene has been almost verbatim duplicated in Heroes.

-I really love the inking 'style' on this ish.-
On a silly, personal note,I was happy to see Lake Ontario
in a comic book (Even IF a murderous creature lurked within)
I lived just down the road from the beach at the time.
( On the other side of the bay, in Stoney Creek)
That's part of why Alpha Flight was cool for me as a kid.
It took place in MY backyard! I'd never been to New York, but
I live in Canada.
In an earlier issue of AF ( #6 ? ) a background character is
named Lars. -That happens...never.
John Byrne was working on Wonder Woman when Cassie SANDSMARK
was introduced! Subconscious co-inckydink, or something sinister?

Lars, Cassie was named after WW fan Joanna Sandsmark, who helped JB with research and wrote a few bits for the WW Secret Files. A very cool and deserving Tuckerization.

Thanks Peter-I've never heard that info before. Cool.
However!
I am certain that Byrne has been spying on me my entire life,
and he's been trying to communicate to me through a
complex series of coded messages.
(There may be a name for my condition, but delusions notwithstanding,
I suspect sinisterness!!!)

I loved the scene with Aurora in the mirror as well.
And that gorgeous B&W...? Tell me Alpha Flight doesn't deserve the
Essentials treatment!

In nice weather I ride my bike by Ontario Place and along the lakeshore here
in Toronto. Think about Heather diving in every time.
Ah sweet memories of Alpha Flight...
Thanks Chief!

Great issues. Glad I'm not the only horn-dog about this issue. Oh, being 13 years old and seeing these pages were a delight.
