That's a shame. If anything, I became more of a Byrne victim with this issue, because it was, for me, the ultimate in comics, and I loved Mac. I thought he was the coolest. But because of this, I became one of the faithful fifty grand.

I find it very sad that people would react so angrily to the death of a character, especially when the event was written/drawn in such a powerful way (in fact, that statement applies to both the Alpha Flight story, and the Dark Phoenix story, two of the best deaths in comics).
It is the impact of such events, and the fact that they do happen at times, that makes the stories worth reading. Death in comics is often temporary (not that that's always a bad thing. I can't wait for Cap's return) and also far too often just a big fat pompous marketing stunt (Cap again) but once (or twice) in a while, somebody gets it right and makes it not only an important part of a story, but portrays it in a way that is just masterful.

Gee -- I miss the days when the audience turned over every five years!!
I've read all the threads that discuss this fact, and the fact that "some" of the fans have infiltrated the creative process and corrupted it. But, I think this very statement from JB brings up the point that, IF it doesn't do this anymore, and that seems very valid, that there should be a bit more control, and responsibility exercised on truly monumental changes in the story/character etc., as it can't be as easily changed back, or forgotten because of the lack of "turnover".
And please, I'm not trying to put words in anyone's mouth, just a thought triggered by reading above.

Flavio, I enjoyed that moment also. Also liked when Diamond Lil tried to use one of Snowbird's hair to strangle her and when Northstar slammed Wildchild against the wall. Good to see the whole team in action against Omega Flight.

Wow -- I never caught the face in that panel either. I always thought it was another shot of Guardian falling to his knees with one arm up. That is chilling JB.

Just in case John missed it the first time:
What TV show is Heather referring to?
(Yeah, I would love to see JB do AFHY. But I think it would be easier on you Flavio, if you asked who DIDN'T want to see it on this form. That way you would not spend all day counting hands :)

I'd rather see ALPHA FLIGHT POST BYRNE: THE DO-OVER.

I had pretty much the same interpretation! Now that it's been pointed out, it seems rather obvious...kind of like one of those "magic eye" things.

Not only are those two faces ugly, but they seem a little stuck up, too, with
their noses in the air like that.
