By popular demand.  Still nothing overt about her comments, I think.  Knowing Jean-Paul is a famous athlete, he could be doing the rockstar thing and sleeping with a different girl on every mountain.

Spawn? Here I thought JB'd pre-invented Deadpool.

I love how Northstar crashed through that window. Made perfect sense for a
guy without invulnerability to go feet first. (I imagine he has some kind of
protection against wind and cold, but it may not be much help against sharp
edges)

Sure, it wasn't overt, Ryan - that was the beauty of the way JB handled it. Like I said in the previous issue thread, I didn't "get" it until after the fact, but this page did make the 9-year-old me think "Hmmm, what did she mean by that?"

I remember reading this issue years after its original run during my "Byrne Collecting" days.  I was probably around 16 or 17 and starting to come to grips with my own homosexuality.  When Aurora let Northstar have it and made a reference to his love life in comparison to her own something kinda' "clicked" with me.  Maybe it was just me.

What I love about that scene is that it can be interpreted so many different ways. Far more subtle and effective than a poorly drawn panel with Northstar bouncing at the reader and shouting, "I am gay!"

Also, I don't view that scene as Aurora condemning Northstar's homosexuality -- though, it would be "realistic" given the times for her to generalize all of homosexuality as alternative and somewhat "kinky" so that Northstar would have no moral ground to judge her own promiscuity.

I like the way Aurora puts on the brakes mid-air.

That Northstar crash through the window does look good, doesn't it?

I think it's time I dug out the Alpha Flight issues and re-read them.  It seems like it's been 100 years since I've read Alpha Flight (and while I followed it for quite a while after JB left, it was never the same)...
