Eva, here's a close-up of that cover if you want to use it for your avatar.

Great issue although I've never liked the cover. Austin's inks of this period
don't work as well as JB's inks on the insides.

Great fun. The origin back ups were great. My copy of issue #2 is also slightly discolored. Did everyone have this problem?
One of the tragedies of my life is that my "golden age of comics" occurred about two years before I began collecting comics. All my favorite high points had to be bought as back issues.
One thing I remember about Marvel in '85 is that there was a strong sense of legacy about the great issues in the past. X-Men #137, Thor # 337, FF #232, and ASM #238 were known by me years before I ever had the opportunity to read them.

In going back and re-reading this ish today, I had a couple questions for JB:
1) The Alpha jet is very close in design to the Avengers quinjet; any story there?
2) Shaman, in discussing Puck's injuries, remarks that he wouldn't worry if it was Wolverine or even Walter who was instead injured. Does he mean Walter injured when in Sasquatch form, and is that something related to his powers?
3) Marrina's ability to douse Sasquatch with huge amounts of water (which she claims as strength)- is it muscular capacity or some sort of control over the water molecules themselves?
Thanks!

Re: the Bullpen image.
I love it. It's one of my most favorite images ever (I would commission it, but noway I can afford that!).
Two questions to JB: 1. Who colored it?
2. How come you changed Hawkeye's mask?
And a complain: Too bad Phoenix is missing from this image...

Ok my friend's got Alpha Flight #1 which he borrowed. He's one of those types that forgets to return something after 3 months or so....I finally get it back.
Now I am looking for my Alpha Flight #2 and wouldn't you know it but I believe he has that issue as well....
Looks like I'm gonna have to pull a Marina on this guy...

JB " ... And how I miss the days when it was possible to do stuff like that. When it was possible to plot out long story arcs, character arcs, planting clues, laying down subtle threads ..."
----------------
So I suppose it was even more fun doing all this stuff working on the Next Men, with an entire universe of your own.
I always loved the Sasquatch character. Would you share your sources of inspiration in the design of the canadian beast ?

Poor Marrina. She has a sort of tragic, inside-out Superman origin. Instead of the sole survivor of a destroyed planet who coincidentally looks like a native, she's one of faceless thousands of potential conquerors, here to lay waste.
