"Point one: JB drew the cover of a Batman book for kids
Point two: JB doesn't hate his fans
Anyone that can draw a line of logic connecting these two statements wins a no-prize."
It's mine then, since the keyword was future fans. The point is he doesn't ignore the kids, like some do..

I hear he leaves stinky old comics out as treats on Halloween, instead of candy.
Wait'll the kids in the new neighborhood get a load o' that. They'll be camped out on his doorstep every Oct. 31st. Why didn't I have a crazy man like that in my neighborhood?

He didn't track me down, find out my birthday, and send me a
ridiculously extravagant present.
What a dick.

C'mon guys, Al was just trying to be positive. I'm guessing Al
thinks somebody with a cruel heart wouldn't be doing kid's books.

I actually see what he's saying now, he's talking about JB watching out for
the future generation of comic lovers, which is always a good thing.

Waaaaaaaaay out in the woods, off a side street of a side street, with no sidewalks, no streetlights --- and, quite frankly, it's Blair Witch country past the end of my driveway! If the doorbell rings on Halloween, I think I'll head for the basement and lock the door!

I got my copy of the scholastic printing of "The Untold Legend of Batman" today. Black and white printing. My students have already stol...er... borrowed it to read. They know the rule. Finish the required readings first (stuff like Hatchet, Johnny Tremain, A Bad Beginning, Goblins in the Castle, Magician's Nephew, etc.), then they can go after the teacher's books, like this one. Since we are close to the end of the first quarter, some of them have reached their requirements.
I learned it from the way James Cook got his men to eat saurkraut. Put the stuff where they really want to get it, whether they like it or not. I have one student reading the poetry of Edgar Allen Poe now.
And another reading Len Wein's, John Byrne's and Jim Aparo's stories.

I've added graphic novels to my high school classroom when there's reading time beyond the required reading, and the kids have really taken to them. JLA: The Tenth Circle is making the rounds, as is Green Arrow: Quiver.
