May the Fates fill his remaining days with love and laughter, and make his
passing as peaceful as possible.

This is heartbreaking news. George Perez remains a class above most else, even in the face of such devastating news. He's a giant amongst men.

I'm in shock right now....devastated by the news... and my heart goes out to him & his family/loved ones. Through the years, George Perez has been a inspiration to me artistically and for being such a generous, kind person. I hope his time left are filled with as much love and caring as possible.

-C!

Heartbreaking news.  I've been a fan of his work for nearly as long as I've been a fan of comics in general.  From buying his first Avengers work off the spinner rack in the 70s, to New Teen Titans and Wonder Woman in the 80s, and then back again on Avengers in the 90s plus everything in-between.  His work has been a near constant for many thousands of fans.

More than that, however, is everything I've ever heard about him has been nothing but glowing.  Unfortunately, I've never had the pleasure of meeting him but stories abound about his kindness, enthusiasm and work ethic.  That update from his FB page exudes a generosity of spirit and a love for his family and fans that is inspirational especially in light of everything he's dealing with right now.

My hope for him is as smooth and painless a transition as possible, surrounded by the love of his family and the continued appreciation of all those, like me, who have enjoyed his work for so long.

His note shows just what kind of man he truly is. I wish only the best for him
and his family.

Tonight I wear my "fuck cancer" hoodie. I just hope
George's remaining months are more than he expected and
that they're full of warmth and love.

When you read his message it's easy to see why George is one of, if not THE most beloved people in the comics industry.

I was introduced to his work by THE AVENGERS #141 and he quickly became my favorite artist.  He's one of a short list whose art will make me buy anything they worked on, and his art never disappoints.

But his willingness to interact with fans to the degree that he does is what made him even more special.  In a world where famous people sometimes have to feel a little concerned about the rabidness of some of their fans (and with justification) George has remained cordial and friendly and very fan-oriented.

Sad news. One of the greats. I hope his time remaining brings him peace and closure.
