Those David Aja pages in his Hawkeye run are amazing. Probably the last time I was truly wowed by a mainstream superhero book.

David Aja. First time I’ve seen/heard of him. Impressive work. Reminiscent of middle period Alex Toth—not a bad thing at all!

Yes, definitive Toth influence on his work!

I'd also add Mazzuchelli (who was also obviously inspired by Toth) and the innovative layouts of Chris Ware.

In Hawkeye #11 he tells the whole issue from the perspective of Hawkeye's dog and how he perceives the world around him, it's brilliant stuff I highly recommend seeking it out.
