Republican voters did focus heavily on George Bush Sr.'s hypocrisy of campaigning on 'no new taxes' and then adding taxes (something that Dukakis had said honestly had to be done after the Reaganomics years). Strangely Reagan more than tripling the national debt and raising taxes nineteen times flew below their radar, so you still see Republicans proudly showing off their Reagan photos rather than of Bush Sr., even while championing opposites sometimes of Reagan's actual positions.

It's a rube's game spotting hypocrisy in politics. Lyndon Johnson got his first rung on the ladder promising racial segregation to Texans (this is when there were all the southern Dixicrats in the Democratic party). Then in power he desegregated because he knew it was the right thing and/or the way forward for the future. Given generations of voters who haven't forgiven FDR for that 'new deal' getting in the way of a pure free market deciding everything, and maybe even for getting into the war in Europe he promised them to steer clear of... I guess LBJ betraying a few Texans was small potatoes.

I'm not sure who claims the infamous cake Art moment now, probably Evangelical Christian Republicans? I still come down on the side of people over things, or symbols, there. Making a gay couple feel second-class is just not equal to some thing, be it a cake or great Art. Who chooses the people in abortion rights? In a sense both do, one side is the fetus the fetus, and the other the mother and the rest. Maybe something that will go on forever, or until the same 'pro-life' for fetus people quit whining about paying for someone else to have sex by funding birth control and planned parenthood information. Instead now they are down to creating the trivial red tape laws they usually howl about in terms of hallways having to be x number of inches wide and so forth.

No less than Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell is now warning CORPORATIONS* to keep out of politics (e.g, the Georgia boycotts) or risk "serious consequences".

The Republican Party truly has jumped the shark!

Marc

*So soon the Republicans forget about the Supreme Court decision: CITIZENS UNITED, which declared that corporations are "people" with First Amendment rights and which the Republicans fought so hard for and have done their damndest to protect ever since.

Keep out of politics!
Keep donating to me, though! That's OK.

Well, then.

That’s the NRA told isn’t it?

What?
