Dr Strange by Jim Aparo. That might have been a good fit.

Given his work on Captain America, Squadron Supreme and Quasar, which were in the DC mould the following:

JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERCA - Mark Gruenwald and George Perez

SUPERMAN - Mark Gruenwald and Jose Luis Garcia Lopez

THE FLASH - Mark Gruenwald and Greg LaRoque

I know they both had separate runs on the book, but I think Len Kaminski and JR, Jr. on Iron Man would have been a great one.

Jose Luis Garcia-Lopez on Thor would look nice, methinks.
Or Captain America
Or Daredevil
Or Iron Man...

I'd love a JB run on T.H.U.N.D.E.R Agents, but I seem to recall reading somewhere that JB doesn't feel a connection to the characters - have I misremembered?

A Roger Stern/JB The Invaders. The WWII group, of course, not the contemporary one.

Marvel published the advert for a Roger Stern/Frank Miller Dr Strange, but it never materialised!

Norm Breyfogle on The Flash.

Mr. Byrne - you are, of course, right about Jim Aparo on Dr. Strange. But honestly... who wouldn't look good with Jim Aparo art (not a rhetorical question, necessarily. Could you think of someone Mr. A mightn't draw well?

When did he do that Wonder Man? Was it for the Marvel Handbook?

How did Marvel never land him for a regular gig? Surely they must’ve
tried.

I believe that the source indicated it was for the revised Marvel Handbook.

And I believe I thought of a top 10 hit for a decade or so (although not the CURRENT decade...) With no insult to Mr. Byrne, I would love a John Byrne/Jim Aparo ongoing Wolverine series. I could not buy that fast enough or hard enough.

Hard enough? You know, like I do for my nieces and nephews... "Now here's a quarter out of Uncle Eric's nose..."

On his blog a few years ago, Shooter said that Garcia Lopez was the one DC artist they really coveted during his EIC tenure.  Presumably Garcia Lopez was loyal to DC for giving him his start, and they kept him under exclusive contract and well-compensated.

You may already know this, but just in case - if you want a taste of what might have been, he wrote and drew #26 of the 70s/80s Doctor Strange series. It was supposed to be the beginning on a run, but that didn't happen for some reason. He also wrote #24-25 and drew #23.

Yep. Unfortunately the two issues Starlin drew were layout jobs, and they were inked by Rudy Nebres who had a tendency to obliterate the individual style of anyone he inked.
