Loss of any conscious thought, at least I have some now to have some existential dread so that's a good thing right?

I definitely have a fear of heights, although I do enjoy being on a plane and my super power wish would be the ability to fly so....go figure.

In my experience, that’s top choice for most people. Downside of my day job, tho, is that it’s forced me to think about how many powers “really work”, and that’s led to the conclusion that flight alone would be more trouble than it’s worth.

Yeah, yeah, sucks to be me.

I spent many years in my youth fantasizing about flying... until I realized that it would be even harder than driving.

I have now realized that I want to TELEPORT - either me or another mass (up to human size, say.)

I'm lucky that I don't really have a fear of heights. FALLING, however - BRR!

Ride a ski chairlift no problem, stand next to the edge of a rooftop railing or a skyscraper window, no thanks.

That pesky gravity is why we'll probably never see flying cars for the masses.

Vinny - yes, certainly. But I meant that, even if flying were possible... you'd need to know your destination from a top view.

Try Google Maps from a random location in your city, and see if you can find your way home.

Now think about winter breezes, thunderstorms, autumn leaves blowing in your face.... I think I shall prefer to drive.

I definitely do not like heights.  My wife walks right up to the edge of the Grand Canyon while I don't go anything closer than 10ft to the edge.  She likes rock-climbing too.  Not for me!

I own a glider flying school and fly gliders and airplanes basically every day.  You'd be surprised how many pilots don't really care for heights. :). As long as I'm strapped in, its all good!

During the period when I as visiting China, I had a short time where I
started to fear not being able to get home, probably after the Icelandic
volcano went off & I really couldn’t get home for a period of time. That
incident ended with a crazy week long road/rail/sea/air trip with my
colleague that was actually pretty fun.

I started to think about the ways & means I would need to learn if there
was no long distance travel.

I had to get a grip pretty quick before I went too deep down that rabbit
hole.

Heights.

I do remeber this Jerry Seinfeld quote when it comes to public speaking:

"According to most studies, people's number one fear is public speaking. Number two is death. Death is number two. Does that sound right? This means to the average person, if you go to a funeral, you're better off in the casket than doing the eulogy.”

i used to be scared of spiders.
i had a summer job in high school working outside.
one morning there was a frog (or toad) minding it's own business and one of the guys made it quite obvious that he was scared of frogs and all of the other guys noticed it enough that they started picking it up and tossing it at him, to which he ran, screamed, and made it quite obvious he was was terrified. terrified!
i did not partake, i just stayed quiet.
that night after work i "found" a spider.
i picked it up, let it crawl on my hands, arms, belly and legs.
i did it for a long time, over an hour i'm sure - until my fear was gone.
nobody !!!! was ever !!! going to terrify me the way they did to Brian that day. nobody !!!
year after year, "playing" with different bugs, i am no longer scared of spiders or other bugs - i still don't like them, but i am confident that no one can sense i have a 'hesitation' with bugs ... and no one will ever tease or terrify me like Brian !!!
