Aside from the poem itself, I think Steve Gerber was simply making a joke.

I really miss him. Marvel's best writer of the '70s, IMO. And he kept doing great work into the 21st century. HARD TIME was especially good.

I agree with both those opinions, Adam ("Marvel's best writer of the 70s", "doing great work in the 21st century").

Except for my first issue as ongoing writer/artist. For some reason it was left off.

Just another of those thousand cuts that make it sometimes hard to believe they're really "accidental".
