Thanks to a comment by person on Facebook about how John Byrne has possibly drawn himself in comic books more than any other artist, I was inspired to spend a cold Sunday afternoon grabbing images, cropping, twisting, pasting, and pushing them into a collage of all the "Byrne by Byrne" images from comic books (and fanzines) I could find. One may be a fudge... There was a "New Universe" profile for Byrne that I believe he did, but it may have been by Carl Potts or some Marvel staffer (it's basically a simple "smiley" face type drawing, except that it's frowning. LOL!).
JB do you remember the drawing?
Oh, and NO!!! The "How To Draw Comics Comic" cover by Solson Publishing is NOT included because Byrne has stated before that is NOT meant to be him. Ditto for the cover art to Ron Goulart's "The Great Comic Book Artists", so that is why they aren't represented: They ain't Byrne by Byrne! The drawing from "Sensational She-Hulk" #50 is meant to be JB, but for some reason the colorist colored his hair and eye color brown, which isn't correct.
Lastly, if any of you can think of any other "Byrne by Byrne" drawings not included here, please share. NOTE: ONLY drawings of Byrne by Byrne, not caricatures by other artists of him, or fumetti (photo) comics of Byrne. I wanted this to be only actual drawings of the man by the man himself. Thanks!!
