"I used to draw my hair “open”, which colorists often interpreted as blond."

I just stopped short of putting my foot in my mouth. My first reaction was "have they never seen or met you?" But then I realized, for the vast majority of them, probably not!

What’s the provenance of the circular image just left of center, bottom?

That's from "HULK" (1999) #1. It's the back-up story, where Nick Fury speaks to comic book versions of you and Ron Garney.

This reminds me of the evolution of JBs signature I put together a few years back.....

That signature image makes me wonder how many comic books JB has physically signed in his life. Twenty-plus (?) years on the convention circuit, it has to be in the millions, right?

Still a fan of that ‘74 version.•• As many of you already know, I stopped using that one when Tony Tollin told me he was getting compliments for my work! The other one, I find it fun to watch lines disappear over the years, mostly due to signing those millions and millions of autographs at cons.

The early 1970s version was pretty nifty, but I do prefer the later, standard JB signature. It has a nice look to it.

The early Seventies one I call the “top hat and monocle” version.

I found a few more "Byrne by Byrne" drawings and added them to the collage. I uploaded them to my Flickr album so that the image would be higher resolution than if I uploaded it to this post. The link to the updated image is below:
