Dan, I looked at your gallery to help me find some extra pics when I first put together my collage yesterday. Thanks for keeping up the gallery, btw!!

Here's an updated version with some additions:

I had someone ask about the artist on the cover of the "How To Draw Comics Comic" from Solson that JB drew, but as I already pointed out, I recall JB saying that was not meant to be him.

I’d thought at the time that the dark hair and cigarette should make that clear!

I agree, but even after I pointed out you said it was not you, people still want to point out I "missed" that pic of you in my collage.

Comics are a visual medium, yet over the years I have seen a disturbing disconnect in some fans between what’s on the page and what they see.

OT: Is it just me or does there seem a hint of The Joker in the Neal Adams self-portrait? I don't even know what that would mean... unless just that his Batman visuals were particularly memorable...

I'm almost seeing purple green and white when I look at that.

The Blond vs Brown hair has confused me, since I don't recall ever seeing a color photo of you with blond hair.

As I’ve gotten older, my hair has gotten lighter. Common in gingers.

I used to draw my hair “open”, which colorists often interpreted as blond.

(Pity poor Roger Price! I drew him with open hair in STAR BRAND and the colorist made it BLUE!)

I cannot place it, but I seem to recall a self-drawing of Mr. Byrne blowing his own brains out. There was the issue of X-Men set in Ottawa. And of course, dozens of drawings from Assistant Editor's Month, which I see you took advantage of from FF and the Thing short story.

Eric, I have the drawings you mention in my collage. If I missed anything you remember,  let me know. Even if I run out of room, I'd still like to find any more "Byrne by Byrne" drawings.

JB, does that "Space: 1999" character count, the "Burns" astronaut?

About hair color: Even though it was definitely JB as a character in "Sensational She-Hulk" #50, the character was colored with brown hair and brown eyes. Did the colorist not realize it was a caricature of you, JB?

Awesome work, Matt - very cool!!

It looks like you're doing just illustrations, but JB also appeared in STAR TREK:
NEW VISIONS - "1971/4860.2" (#7). He played a prospector holding up Kirk
and Gary Seven in a really fun sequence. Not a drawing, but definitely a
character in JB's work.

Thanks,  Tim! Yeah, I decided to limit this collage to hand drawings by JB. If I went the fumetti route, it would definitely get much more cramp than it already is. I know that besides New Visions, JB appeared in photo comics form in several Marvel publications,  and some independent,  small press comics and fanzines.
