A lot of different urban legends to sift thru. One claims Roddenberry was annoyed at having to include a credit for Solow on TOS so it was superimposed over a baleful Balok face.

An interesting perspective regarding the usage of the Captains Log as a 'flashback' narrative device. It didn't quite play out that way, although there are some episodes where it did sound as if the log was recorded well after the events yet-to-unfold. Unfortunately, it limits the stakes and peril the crew got in (not that series of that day were prone to cycling through their casts like some procedurals do these days).
