There was an episode of STAR TREK-TOS ("A Private Little War") in which the Klingons were sneakily providing advanced weaponry (flintlock rifles) to a primitive tribe on an alien world. Sneakily, because instead of just handing them the weapons, the were giving them increasingly more sophisticated versions, so that an observer, with no knowledge of the Klingon involvement, might be inclined to think the natives were developing the weapons on their own.

I often think of this when I hear "theorists" expound the notion that aliens helped with the building of the Pyramids. I guess they gave the Egyptians those crude tools to... build character?

JB - I just watched that episode the other night (I would say I watch them way to much, but.....) and it's a very-thinly veiled allegory for the Viet Nam War, and I've never really considered your observation about mankind and the pyramids.

That's also the episode where the dazed Spock tells Chapel she has to strike him over and over to help him come out of some weird Vulcan healing trance.  That scene gets a little more cringey with every viewing.

But I digress....

To clarify, I do not think extraterrestrials built the Pyramids!

Nothing to do with aliens, but there are hints that the technology of Antiquity was far more sophisticated than we thought. For example, Antikythera Mechanism

Just kidding. It apparently is the Surveyor 2 booster rocket.
