"Whatever can those people be doing down there? Like a lot of ants. A surprising number of human beings are without purpose. Although it is probable they're performing some function unknown to themselves."

- Quote from Picnic at Hanging Rock, the 1975 movie

"Who here believes aliens have visited Earth?"

...

Not me.
Tho there has been about 4.5 billion years for that to have happened, it would be unfortunate (?) if aliens did a fly by 4 billion years ago and seen a hot mess and said "nothing to see hear".

Extremely unlikely that “aliens” have visited Earth.

I have been imagining that the US is experiencing its own "The Monsters Are Due On Maple Street," with aliens skillfully stoking the embers of distrust, fear, hatred and ignorance from Earth orbit.

Unfortunately, humans are more than capable of doing all that on their own.

I go back once again to when I was in grade school, and the prevailing opinion in the scientific community was that the circumstances that created the Solar System were utterly unique. There were no other plants, outside the ones we knew, and so there could be no life. Mars and Venus maybe, but they were fast losing ground as probes repeatedly showed how inhospitable they were.

Now, of course, we discover new extra-solar planets almost on a daily basis, as well as finding the building blocks of life all across the known universe. The frustrating element is that when we find them, they are likely to be so far away any sort of contact would be impossible.

Gene Roddenberry lied to us!!!!

That reminds me of my younger self, and the consternation I felt, that we may come across alien life and never know it because it will beyond our visual spectrum.

I'm not trying to change anyone's mind, but if you're bored, here are some other "strange tales" that I feel are as entertaining as Roswell:

The Redlesham Forest Incident - called "U.K.'s" Roswell", but mostly involving a U.S. military base.

Phoenix Lights - UFOs seen by thousands in the night sky over Arizona in 1997. Recently the then-governor of Arizona admitted to be being among the witnesses, as well as actor Kurt Russel, who was piloting his private plane that night.

Skinwalker Ranch - a 500 acre plot of land that was rumored to have not only UFO sightings, but cryptids, poltergeists and other crazy stuff. In the 90's a billionaire bought it and hired a team of scientists to figure out what was going on. Recently the ranch was sold to yet another billionaire, who restarted the investigations with an attached reality TV show.

Bob Lazar - in the late 80's he claimed he was an Area 51 scientist trying to reverse engineer crashed UFOs the government retrieved. If he is a fraudster, in flimed interviews he is the most straight faced liar I have ever seen.

This is the best website I know for debunking UFOs.

Maybe the saucermen are our wardens? They could be watching over a lunatic isolation ward of sorts, or a combination game reserve and organ bank. They probably looked in a few centuries ago, saw celibate men in dresses and big hats in charge being addressed as father, worshiping a statute of another guy nailed to pieces of wood, burning old ladies alive, and thought 'uh oh... if these creatures get out'!

I'm okay with there being some mystery in the world... if some air force pilots in the late '40s say they saw 'foo fighters' then I believe they saw something, even if the answer is that someone had administered a new product from Sandoz laboratories (they are always using service people as guinea pigs to answer 'let's see what this does' questions).

There are enough people on this planet I feel alienated from and can wonder about how they function or think... take the unquestioned wonder of lawns and all the water and gas powered polluting lawn mowers they have required for one; but hey, the more the merrier!

If Ancient Aliens visited Egypt and different people,
civilizations 4,000+ years ago, they might not have gotten
home yet. Time could work different for them. A return trip
could be thousands of years from now. They'll get out of
their space ship and say "Sorry we had to leave for a few
minutes..."
