Believe it or not, Macauley Culkin and Chris Pine are both 40 today!

Now THAT blows my mind!

It's such a strange phenomenon that some people can be stuck at a certain age, perennially, in your mind. Home Alone was a loooong time ago!

It's like meeting a friend you haven't seen since elementary school.  Logically, you know they've lived a life and aged, but it doesn't make seeing them as an adult any less jarring!

It feels odd to me because I don't think if Culkin as being so close to my own age (just turned 46). It's probably due to his being famous as a child actor that my brain just assumes he's younger than he actually is. Then you realize that Home Alone is something like 30 years old and it really sinks in.

My first great crush was a girl in elementary school. I know she is my age*, perhaps a year younger at most, but the 11 year old in my mind has her frozen at his age, and will forever.

* If she's even still alive!

Macauley Culkin seems so much younger than Chris Pine, and it's not simply because Culkin was the "Home Alone" kid. In contemporary appearances, Culkin just seems more like a younger person.
