How big were the actual drawings you did of the corner heads for the Marvel covers/ Marvel Handbook?

Here’s an example, drawn on a piece of comic board...
(I don’t own this — but I wish I did!)

I remember always recognizing She-Hulk by her head in the corner -- which is not so hard when she's colored green. But seeing her in black and white, I can observe how much the choice of hair-style helps too.
It's interesting to see the differences in all those faces. A cool challenge, well- met!

I always have thought it weird to draw long hair on just a head. Of course, JB pulls it off here rather nicely.

Trick is to not have it go BEHIND where the neck should be. So many do that, and we end up with someone who looks like they just paid a visit to Madame Guillotine. All right to partly fill under the chin.

There's something EXTREMELY John Byrne about the Captain Marvel head to my eye.
The execution of that angle, where the head seems slightly tipped back, regal and confident, has associated itself somewhere deep in my bean with JB.
It's probably pointless to point out, but it interests me how many tiny details go into appreciating the work of a cartoonist.

I can tell Aurora from Black Widow from She Hulk! There were/are artists where characters of the same hair color and ethnicity would be indistinguishable, like Huey Dewey and the other guy without their caps (or most of Beagle Boys without the numbers).
I think there was a mid '60s Avengers panel where a maskless Captain America, Hawkeye, and Don Blake are in one panel all looking like triplicate man. I'm thinking a Don Heck issue though I do like his comics; he was a solid draftsman and as a kid like Sal B. I never had any trouble following everything.

Seems like I remember seeing that more than once into the seventies. Kirby had Don Blake frail, almost sunken. Steve Rogers should be the square, cleft jawed man. Hank Pym and Clint in between them two. Gotta be tough tho in a 2D world but the good artists find a way.
