I mentioned a while back that this story contained my favorite of my own drawings of the Phoenix effect. This is it!

(And, please, please, please, those of you with a tendency to dissect, don't ask WHY. It just IS!)

Mine too - it has everything.

Part of what I like about Elsewhen is that it is in black
and white. I met these characters in black and white UK
reprints.
Things like the Phoenix effect look best for me in black
and white and this s the perfect one of those black and
white images

••

Color for the Phoenix effect was established before I got there, of course. But this points up a battle I have fought many times with colorists who simply could not accept the idea that white is BRIGHTER than yellow. Frank Miller fought the same fight over an all-white DAREDEVIL cover. The colorist fought right down to the wire to make it yellow--and fortunately lost.

I think the title probably saved me from a repeat of that on ALPHA FLIGHT's "Snowblind" cover.

Again, I have to compliment you on the different angles and perspectives that you’re displaying in your artwork. It almost feels cinematic to me. I’ve found myself wondering where a camera might be placed for a particular panel!

I have never seen the Phoenix effect looking better! Sh*t just got real!

A fraction of infinity... well, that's less than a bigger fraction of infinity, isn't it?

And there's poor ol' Professor Gray. "Help Jean". What's Xavier gonna do? Hand out programs? Sell souvenirs? Make popcorn?

Two Dark Phoenixes... the mind boggles.

Oh, and I would use the simplest spelling for the plural of Phoenix, since discussing two Phoenixes is rather like saying something is more unique, to me.

If he could help, which Phoenix would Xavier want to win?

The pragmatic Xavier would say NEITHER.

Yesterday’s page elicited a “Wow” to see Lilandra and Jean begin to square off, but today’s page simply has my mouth agape in silent awe!  No idea what’s coming tomorrow, but I am enjoying this ride immensely!  Thank you for sharing your stories with us!

A step sideways into subplot territory—which is why you’ll be getting TWO pages!
