Ennio Morricone would have deserved a topic in "Music" but his contribution to cinema is too significant.

I'm sad even if our host was born on this glorious day!

One of my favorites. Very saddened by this news.

As close as you can get to the most evocative half-minute
in all cinema:

No sound has epitomized a genre any greater than his!

Such amazing work, from his westerns right through to The
Thing and beyond.

I find this live performance fascinating, seeing all the parts broken down like this.

Thank you for posting that JB - stunning.

I never fail to be amazed at the breadth of instruments
that contribute little things to a piece, that we might
not notice are there, but they add to the overall depth of
a piece.

Man, to be able to whistle on command in a live setting like that. My frail psyche wouldn't be able to take the pressure, I'd be blowing air.

Perfection!

One of my top four all-time favorite movie composers. Mainstream America was exposed to enough of his brilliant work in films like The Untouchables, The Thing, Days of Heaven, Cinema Paradiso, The Hateful Eight and various Sergio Leone offerings that he's vaguely known and appreciated here but most Americans are totally unaware of the 500 other movies he scored in Europe. Just a musical genius and so prolific. Another library burned to the ground.

One of the masters.  And for my money, Morricone composed the single greatest piece of film music for any movie, ever:

RIP
