The only shock is that it took until 2020 to do this!

Yeah, I have no problem with this - especially once I've seen people post some of the older Aunt Jemima images.....yikes!

MLKjr understood better than anyone that practically the
best way to force good changes in America is to hit 'em in
the wallet. The worse you make racism/prejudice for big
business, the more the culture "suddenly" evolves.

Yeah, they've been able to update Betty Crocker a few times, but there's just no way to pull that off with Uncle Ben and Aunt Jemima.

As I have noted, business is getting bold! Most TV ads these days feature mixed race (and often same sex) couples. These are how the barriers come down!

One suggestion I saw floated was to change the image and branding to "Chef Jem." That might be a great update.

I don't pretend to have full comprehension of the Black Experience, but I think if I was Black I'd find that VERY offensive!

JB - I do and I find it REALLY OFFENSIVE!

With both brands being around for well over a century and probably made billions off them, it's WAY past time to retire those racist representations of black Americans.

Time to retire all the ‘Aunts’ and ‘Uncles’ and I’m lookin’ at that tan on Mrs’ Butterworth and dammit I got questions!

2020 is a year of true upheaval.  Much of it terrible.  And yet amidst the smoke and rubble....progress.

Been reading comments about how this will lead to ignorance and the death of America, so that's been fun. Also, apparently Uncle Ben's is working on a similar decision that will be announced later this year.
