As far as I know, there is my "Ryan Wilder" in the DC Batman-Batwoman- Batgirl universe. So I don't understand where CW and Berlanti Productions are going with this series.

"Ryan spent years as a drug-runner, dodging the GCPD and masking her pain with bad habits. Today Ryan lives in her van with her plant."

Yup. Nothing says "hero" like a former drug dealer. Who's best friend is a plant.

So I guess you're not a Harley Quinn fan.

Joe Z. - "Nothing says "hero" like a former drug dealer. Who's best friend is a plant."

You mean a former villain of no consequence who is trying to achieve redemption, and who has so screwed up her social life that, while she has an acquaintance or two, she has no friends, no family, and is desperately striving to achieve a better position in the world?

It's not Superman or Spider-Man, and it surely (and obviously) may not fit your idea of a hero. But to me, it sounds like the opposite of the hero with feet of clay, who has fallen and will never rise up again.

I like the premise, meself. And certainly enough to watch and give it a chance.

So now I guess the Crows will just be chasing around a different Batwoman. *yawn*

I do not see any point in keeping Alice around, if Kate is killed off.

The plant thing is probably a reference to marijuana.

Imagine Pablo Escobar coming back from Hell. Zombie Escobar. Nothing could preclude him from becoming a hero. But that journey would have to begin with him atoning to his thousands of victims. Punishing other people's crimes would just be an exercise in hypocrisy. He's starting from the bottom of a pit that he might never climb out of.

I'm not saying it wouldn't make a good story. But it's a hero story, not a superhero story.

Po-tay-to, po-tah-to...I thought it was very intriguing. More cerebral than the
other DCTVU shows by far.

Joe Z. - interesting interpretation. I read it as a person so lonely that her only friend is a ficus; and (aside from Poison Ivy), who would have no one else in their lives but a ficus?

It surely could be a pot plant, and it might be a set up for a fall from redemption (a la Batwoman's murder victim.) But I hadn't thought in that direction.

I wrote off BATWOMAN about halfway through the season. The whole Alice/Crows storyline was killing any interest I had in the series. I don't need faux Batman, and I sure don't need a third-gen knockoff of the Joker (but she's her sister!) on top of it.

Honestly, at this point, I would end SUPERGIRL, BATWOMAN, and LEGENDS OF TOMORROW. I'd get a new showrunner for BLACK LIGHTNING, because this past season was unbearable, and consider if I really wanted to do SUPERMAN & LOIS, because... we really don't need it. As for THE FLASH, I would lighten that show up because it has become dark and glum and miserable--and it shouldn't be any of those things.

What I would do instead is launch shows like THE CREEPER, THE QUESTION, BLUE BEETLE & BOOSTER GOLD, and maybe DOCTOR FATE. I think those have more potential and could do better than what they're pushing now.

BLUE BEETLE & BOOSTER GOLD
--

I'd sign up for that!
The Adventures of Blue & Gold. It'd have humour and action. But then, one of them would be gender- or race-swapped...

Y'know, I could live with it, Petter. I think a show like that would be a hit.
Who knows? Maybe we'll get one or more of these one day. Maybe "DC Presents..." as an anthology series featuring a rotating line up of characters...

As for BATWOMAN, since they are essentially rebooting the show, I would...
- drop Gotham City as a location. Seriously, who needs it? Put the show somewhere else so that Batwoman doesn't have Batman's shadow on her every frigging moment.
- drop Alice and the Crows and Commander Kane altogether. Have a midseason wrap up where the new Batwoman is in Gotham, encounters both, Alice is locked away for keeps and the story is just ended. And good riddance.
- drop Luke Fox and the ersatz Batcave. This new Batwoman can do something new and not rely on the Bat's old toys and gimmicks. If all she's doing is ransacking the vaults to use old Bat-tech, she isn't standing on her own two feet.

That's what I'd do.
