Saw this mentioned online — it’s something I actually don’t have in the ol’ JB collection.

What does the “Special Thanks” refer to? Anyone know?

I believe it was the splash page. If I recall
correctly, JB drew it. The stories inside were
reprints of old Dr. Druid (aka, Dr. Droom) stories.

Yep... I remembered correctly. This has been
brought up on the board before, though I was aware
of it when I was still a collector:

There were a couple of panels added at the top of the next page after the splash, but one is mostly a copy of a panel later in the story. Also the familiar facial hair and insignia for Dr. Druid is tacked on thru out.

Doug, I just checked a copy of the comic, and it also appears that another panel at the start of the second story reprinted in that issue was also new art.

Wow... I found an online site that has pages from the original version... There's a lot of retouches in that book! There is a looming figure of Dr. Druid on the first page of the second tale reprinted that was not in the original story, either. I wonder if it's also by JB? I can see his work on the splash page, even though he was mimicking Kirby. The second is a bit harder (it also mimics Kirby's style).

Matt, I was referring to these panels;

These 2 were added in the Weird Wonder Tales story;

This panel was in both Weird and Amazing Adventures, the ship looks reproduced above.

Some comparisons of the additions and changes made in that issue:

Man, that Kirby art is phenomenal! Is there a book that collected the original Dr Droom stories?
