Did the Doctor fix Roryís phone so the battery would never run down?

Not being snarky. Serious question.

(Slightly snarky: astonishingly irresponsible of them, in their present situation, to have had another child.)

Wasn't it an adoption?

Both Amy and Rory definitely had their phones upgraded by the Doctor to work across time and space and in areas with no cell reception, but I donít recall anything being stated about their battery life.

What was irresponsible? They know the world will survive.
There will always be dangers and unknowns.

There's never a 'good' time to have a child if one is
waiting for a perfect world, and sometimes, unplanned
pregnancies do happen. I have no problems with them having
a child.

I think the implication of Rory and Amy's deaths becoming a "fixed point in time", as well as River's foreknowledge of events, is that whatever they did in the past was always going to happen and did happen.

I've always disliked the ending to "The Angels Take Manhattan", because Amy and Rory's "fixed deaths" were just dates on a gravestone. It seemed liked the simplest solution was for the Doctor to plop a fake gravestone there some time in the past and then go back and rescue Amy and Rory. BOOM, no paradox.

That's pretty much what Eleven did with those other two "fixed" deaths at Lake Silencio and Trenzalore. But I guess since those were his deaths different rules applied.

Their deaths couldn't have been that fixed if the headstone kept changing.

óó-

The headstone didnít change. Roryís name was always there, and Amyís name was revealed to be below it. But they never showed what was there, and Amy correctly pointed out that there was room for another name. They just didnít look, and the placement of Roryís name only made sense if he was buried with someone.

But once again, Iíve never understood why the Doctor just didnít make a fake headstone.

I donít understand why the Doctor couldnít just go back a year after
what Amy and Rory were sent back to and pick them up. The fixed
point was their deaths, they could still have adventures and be brought
back to live life to their deaths.
