Oops. That was meant for Marc Foxx. The hidden pineapples are in PSYCH, not MAMA'S FAMILY.

@Brian - I know about the pineapples (and have told my son to look for them). Sometimes they're pretty obvious, other times, not so much...

The Three Stooges. In need of some chuckles.

Currently binge watching (and re-watching) the first season of the TV show ELEMENTARY.

I have to admit that I had forgotten how much I enjoyed this show when it first premiered. And much of that has to do with Jonny Lee Miller's portrayal of Sherlock Holmes.

The idea to show Holmes as a recovering heroin addict was something that I would never have thought of. Yes, his use of the drug had been mentioned in the original novels. But expanding on that concept seems to have given Miller the chance to play Holmes as both a brilliant detective and (most unexpectedly) as a very vulnerable human being.

My wife and I used to watch the show on a regular basis, as we discovered this show around the same time that we were watching SHERLOCK. But she eventually lost interest in ELEMENTARY in favor of the BBC version. And while I can't blame her for switching, I think that Miller's performance is every bit as good in his version of Holmes as Cumberbatch,

Looking forward to the rest of season 1, as I know I will get a glimpse of Natalie Dormer towards the end, which is always an enjoyable use of screen time :-)

Well, I was very disappointed that Amazon Prime only had the first 3 seasons of THE SAINT available to watch.  So now I'm pulling out my DVDs of complete series to watch now. I've alternated between WILD WILD WEST and HOGAN'S HEROES.  Once through those, I may pull out my DANGER MAN DVDs to watch a third time.

James, make sure you stick with ELEMENTARY thru to the end. The
middle seasons do have a slight drop in quality, but the penultimate
season is one of the best. The last one is good too, but its really just an
add-on. CBS had planned for the next to last season to be the last, but
were surprised at how good the ratings were for it, so they extended it
by one more. A nice coda.

If the next to last season's finale was intended to be THE finale, it would have been an okay ending.

My problem with the final season:

INVISO TEXT (Click or highlight to reveal):
After that ending I mentioned, I was looking forward to Holmes and Watson solving crimes in London the next season. Then they're back in the U.S. fast the second episode of the last season.

Brian & Brian:

I did stick with ELEMENTARY all the way through to its final season. But my missus never jumped back on board, nor has she shown any interest in doing so.

I agree the middle seasons seemed to lag a bit, but they were solid enough to keep me watching. IMO the biggest flaw the show had was in making Watson an apprentice to Holmes and then a full fledged investigator shortly thereafter. I think that having Watson function as a doctor and a second set of eyes for Sherlock's investigations was a much more interesting fit.

I was also expecting to see a lot more of Jamie Moriarty during the series run, given the terrific build-up to her character being introduced. But I guess that Natalie Dormer couldn't commit to a long term regularly recurring role. Too bad, as I really liked the banter between Sherlock and Moriarty. And they wrote both characters so well that you never knew who was going to come out on top when they went against each other.

Again, I have to give credit to Miller's performance for making the show worth watching, even when it wasn't hitting on all cylinders. I believe that Miller now has the distinction of having played Sherlock Holmes more often than any other previous actor in either film or television history. Well played indeed.

As much as I enjoy Cumberbatch in the role, I enjoy Miller's take more.

Ok, so I am now trying a show that I didn't think I'd enjoy:  SUPERNATURAL.

I'm loving it!  I'm not generally into horror-type shows pr movies, but I'm enjoying the heck out of it so far.  I'm only in season 1 though, so I have a long journey ahead of me!
