I can think of a few shows; Terra Nova / Revolution / The 100 etc, but not too many that reached their potential.

The girls with perfect makeup and salon-ready hair after ten years of no electricity always irked me for some reason...

Revolution deserved better. It was just starting to get good when it ended up being cancelled. Fortunately, most of my favorite actors from it moved on to other shows that I've watched. (The actress that played Charlie is on Chicago PD, and Billy Burke who played Miles has done several things since that I've watched. I'm hoping he's going to be a recurring on 9-1-1: Lone Star.)

The 100, however, I gave up on during the second season.

Speaking of Billy Burke, would the show Zoo fit this thread?

I recently re-watched Sy-Fy's Z NATION on Netflix...a somewhat goofy take on the zombie apocalypse (the sort-of prequel BLACK SUMMER is also good, but not as "fun").

Um... you can't get much more prescient than PANDEMIC: HOW TO PREVENT AN OUTBREAK, which went up on Netflix only this past January.

Everyone on planet Earth needs to watch this right now.

*****

I live close to the east coast of NJ.  In the immediate aftermath of hurricane Sandy, my area lost electricity for about a week.  Revolution had premiered about a month earlier.  I was struck by how unkempt some people looked after just a few days without electricity.  Much worse than the perfectly put together characters of Revolution, and they hadn't had electricity for 15 years.

Someone on the radio this morning reminded me of The Leftovers.
I don't know.  When categorizing TV shows, where do we draw the line between, post-apocalyptic, apocalyptic, peri-apocalyptic, non-apocalyptic?
