Boris Johnson has been admitted to intensive care.
======================================================
This has just made the UK's national emergency an even greater one.
We have a very young and to an extent inexperienced cabinet. One commentator on the BBC said that in the short term it might be prudent to look to bring people like David Cameron, Tony Blair, Gordon Brown and John Major in to offer some consultancy and advice.

Our political leanings are nowhere near aligned, but I wish the Prime Minister a speedy and event-free recovery!

The point of trying to social distance for the U.K. was to delay the peak until the warmer months when hospital admissions for other things tend to go down - in the hope of giving hospitals a fighting chance.
We are going to have to get ill- the aim to stop us all getting ill @ the same time, because the hospitals can’t cope with that. Attempting to phase that is the plan. Whether that will work or not is another matter. ------------------------------------------------------------ -------------------- Not everyone will catch this virus. There's generally an 80/20 ratio of people that are susceptible to most viruses. This one is quite infectious though so by social distancing the hope is that the infection rate drops below 1. In other words, the virus runs out of people to hop into who can then spread it on.
Social distancing acts both as a delay and a form of containment.

Well, the mystery of why he keeps pushing Plaquenil/ hydroxychloroquine has been solved. He owns stock in the pharmaceutical company that makes it. So when the federal govt bought up that huge stockpile of it, he made money from it.
He’s just the absolute lowest of the low of human beings. He and Hitler are pretty much even.

Brian - I've been waiting for that to be the case.
It just made no sense why he had such a hard on about the drug.
He makes me swear soooo much, and I hate swearing!

Trump is pushing a drug that will make him money while telling the public it’s practically a guaranteed cure for Covid-19. Its not. Far from it, in fact. But enough people are believing him that some are taking fish tank cleaner that has the same stuff in it and dying. It may not even be safe for all people with Covid-19 to take the actual medicine. But, that doesn’t matter to him. As long as he makes a buck, right? It doesn’t matter that he’s directing everyone to take it? Even without his personal financial gain, I’d say he’d be directly responsible for people dying if it doesn’t work or if people died from some other complications from taking it. I certainly hold him partially responsible for those idiots that took the fish tank cleaner. So yeah, he and Hitler aren’t too far apart in my book.

Trump & the Hitler of the early ‘30’s seem to be very similar in their tactics. Could Trump become the Hitler of the ‘40’s?
I pray not.

Back to COVID-19...
Germany seem to be getting it right through one simple method: testing, testing and testing.

A final thought on Trump... he's your classic snake oil salesman. He rode into town and sold people a phony bill of goods and some worthless medicine.
