The votes are gonna be pretty divided among quality films like Scorsese's and Tarantino's (and apparently Mendes' 1917 is pretty good too) so I'm keeping my hopes up for a surprise win for PARASITE which is in my opinion, and by far, the year's best film.
... and surprise win indeed!
Seeing PARASITE win the big one made me happy for them but then it got me thinking... it's the first time in my lifetime that my favorite film of the year wins Best Picture at the Oscars!
It's kinda worrisome to have the same taste as the Academy... does that mean I'm old now?
I don't think JOKER's gonna get much though, except for probably Best Actor for Phoenix and possibly Best Original Score.
Not a betting man but maybe I should consider it next year...
Kidding aside, both very deserved as well. The next guy to play the Joker's gonna have a lot of pressure on his shoulders.
The ceremony itself was incredibly boring though, the show's in desperate need of some new ideas.
