Best Van Helsing ever!

The show itself was uneven and some of the SFX were sketchy.  The vampire baby was laughably bad.  But the portrayal of Sister Agatha Van Helsing was magnificent.  A show about her would have been better.

Did anyone catch that possible Easter Egg mention of Sister Agatha’s “detective friend” in London?

She seems like she would be a worthy acquaintance of Sherlock Holmes.

Paul, you're right - the 3rd episode was absolutely atrocious.

@David Allen Perrin - I'm in the middle of episode 2 now and caught it...it's pretty blatant.

And now I feel like I have to watch the 3rd episode, just so I can wallow in the wretchedness...

Don't do it.  The third episode is so bad that it retroactively makes the first two worse.

I did it - it was something...I don't know that I hated it as much as you all did, but it was pretty dumb.

I had to go to IMDB to figure out where I had seen the girl who played Lucy before (she was on the HBO show "Years and Years").

Just about halfway through the last episode. Unnecessarily bad. However I really liked Claes Bang's portrayal of Dracula. His scenes with Sister Agatha were fantastic. The first two episodes are all you need to watch.

A strange one.

I'm a SHERLOCK fan so I had hopes for this. It's not bad but it isn't very good either. Feels like a wasted opportunity.

Gatiss and Moffat are clearly big Hammer Films fans and they try to homage them all over the place but I'd prefer to see something new.

Bang's performance is intentionally hammy, sometimes it worked for me, sometimes it didn't.

I was expecting a modern interpretation a la SHERLOCK so the first two episodes left me sorta confused. We all already know the story, what's the point of telling it again with some changes?

But when they gave me what I thought I wanted (Dracula in 21st century London) it just wasn't that interesting. Also, some of the visual effects were embarrassingly bad, intentionally or not.
