What'd you see and what'd you think?  I didn't get to see nearly as many as I thought I would, but I was able to catch the following...

Favorites:
THE KID WHO WOULD BE KING - a pleasant surprise
ANNABELLE COMES HOME - favorite horror film of the year
SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME
IT: CHAPTER TWO
FORD v FERRARI - unexpectedly knocked-out by this one
*THE WIZARD OF OZ (re-release)
*STAR TREK: THE MOTION PICTURE (re-release) - a treat to see again on the big screen after 40 years!

Very Good:
CAPTAIN MARVEL
SHAZAM! - my son's favorite superhero movie, after the new AVENGERS
ROCKETMAN
*GONE WITH THE WIND (re-release)
*HELLO, DOLLY! (re-release) - my girls instantly fell in love with this one

Mediocre:
TOY STORY 4 - wholly unnecessary
STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER - easily the sloppiest STAR WARS film ever!

The Big Stinker:
ALADDIN (2019) - I've seen worse, but this one landed with the hardest thud for me this year

Movie of the Year:
AVENGERS: ENDGAME - the most fun I've had at a movie since I was a kid in the '80s.  Spectacular from start to finish.

Didnít see a whole lot of new movies last year, and of the few I did the only one that totally blew me away was that huge box office blockbuster DARK PHOENIX.

.................what?

Jo Jo Rabbit was my favorite movie of 2019.
Liked Booksmart, Apollo 11, Parasite, Avengers Endgame.

A little underwhelmed by Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood and the Irishman. Both had great elements but neither totally came together for me.

I also enjoyed Echo in the Canyon (which is now on Netflix). Not the deepest documentary but totally enjoyable if that period in music resonates with you.

Still need to see a few from 2019 (Little Women, Uncut Gems)

I've seen a few, but not many I'd watch again and some I wish I hadn't watched at all. Reviewing a 2019 release list, there are many from later in the year I haven't seen, so maybe one will become an obvious front runner.

Best action sequence is from John Wick 3, with an amazing dog (Belgian Malinois) against human fight.

Quick and dirty, probably forgetting some:

AVENGERS ENDGAME
PARASITE
ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD
THE IRISHMAN
PAIN & GLORY
MIDSOMMAR
UNCUT GEMS
JOKER
MARRIAGE STORY
ROLLING THUNDER REVUE
AMERICAN FACTORY
BOOKSMART

Haven't seen KNIVES OUT, FORD V. FERRARI or LITTLE WOMEN yet but they look good.

That JB was blown away by DARK PHOENIX while not liking INFINITY WAR or ENGAME proves to me that the we now live in the upside down.

This thread makes me realise how few films I've seen that were released this year.

So this is from a narrow field:

Very Good:
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood

Good:
Yesterday
Last Christmas
Avengers Endgame

Average:
Rocketman
Rise of Skywalker
IT: Chapter 2

Poor:
Captain Marvel

Didn't go to the theater much this year:

Excellent:

Avengers: Endgame

Good:

Knives Out
Aladdin (watched on Blu-Ray)

I have had Captain Marvel on DVD since it came out, but still haven't watched it yet.
