The change to brown & yellow/orange eventually grew on me as the subdued, almost camouflaged, colors made more sense for his hunter/tracker nature.
Can't say I didn't miss the original colors a bit though. GO BLUE!

Since we're talking of his costume, I think changing the mask from the original whisker version was HUGE!

As the tale is told, Dave drew the “whisker” mask in GSXM 1, then saw how Gil had penciled it on the cover, preferred it, and redrew all the interior shots to match.

I no longer have the page I used to from that issue*, so I can’t check to see if it showed.

I also once owned the page with the first close-up of Logan unmasked. Another one bought for a pittance--tho it did not seem so at the time.

(Unaware as I was of most of Dave's run on LEGION OF SUPERHEROES, I was surprised, years later, to discover how he'd used his redesign of Timberwolf for Wolverine!)
