I just read about this a few minutes ago.

"It was so long ago, no one is going to know the difference."

Okay, I think this is stupid, obviously. But will someone please explain to me why HAMILTON is okay, and this is not?

Not me. HAMILTON is most decidedly not ok to me.

HAMILTON mainly gets a pass because so many people like the music, I think. I don't like the script, so to speak, but the music is very well done. I don't want to like it but I do.

HAMILTON:  Stylized musical, artistic license.  Does it make sense?  Maybe, maybe not.  But there's no denying its impact.

Perhaps if HARRIET had been a musical...

In Hamilton the characters are still “White”. Meaning, there isn’t a
suggestion (in the story) that any of them aren’t white people -
regardless of the actors playing them.

The Roberts/Tubman sounds like they would have proceeded with the
character/historical figure having been a white woman.

Hamilton - stylized intentionally. And in many ways gives any interesting
effect - showing a difference between the British and the Americans
King George is usually a white actor.

How does that make sense? A non-White actor is still playing White, but a non-Black actor is.... playing White?

I don’t get Hamilton. But then again, I’ve not seen it.
But as a concept, I cannot wrap my head around how it is accepted in a world where Samuel L Jackson can get away with complaining that an actor shouldn’t just be black but should be American as well (Get Out)
