She knows her fanbase and influence and gets reminded daily.

••

The fan base that didn't elect her last time?

(Note, I do not say the fan base that didn't VOTE for her. As we all know, Clinton got more votes than Trump, but in the "wrong" states. And I see no evidence to suggest that big red swath across Middle America is in any way interested in turning blue.)

I still think someone should dare Trump to a purely popular vote election. I bet he'd bully the Senate into making it happen and hopefully he would lose even worse this time.

Even assuming that was possible, Trump would dispute the results just like he did last time, when he WON!

Can you say "Constitutional crisis"?

THIRD chance!!!!

What I meant was second chance as the party's nominee.  As I noted, it's been 50 years since a person who was nominated for President (by one of the two major parties) and lost has been given a second chance as the party nominee.  Certainly there have been lots of people who've run but not been nominated, then tried again and won the nomination the next time around.  Both Clinton and Trump, in fact.

Hell, I wish Eisenhower were still around.  He'd be considered a centrist Democrat in today's political climate.

I wish Harding were still around! Or Johnson! Or Buchanan...

Sigh. We're dealing with critical times, that's what we are. It will take us decades to recover* and we might never make it.

*Assuming we survive the climate crisis, a no longer take-it-for-granted situation.
