I was surprised to find that out, too!

Season 7 was a real return to form, I thought. The weaponisation of social media gave them some much-needed grist for the mill. Budapest made an unconvincing Moscow, but I did appreciate being introduced to the term 'useful idiot'.

Son, sit back in your chair and make yourself comfortable.
You're in for a rare treat.

Here's most of the TNG crossover footage:

<SNARK> It's actually better than most of TNG Season 2. </SNARK>

Damn. And I thought I knew everything about STTNG. I know what I am watching once I crank up the old VPN.

LOST lulled everyone in to thinking that there was a plan and the writers knew were they were going. They didn't.

Even when they tell you they have a plan, they actually don't.  (NuBSG).

That's another finale I have no fondness for.

Very few shows have the full story worked out, even though most seem to say they do.
The creators of LOST used to bang on about how everything was worked out and they even knew why the smoke monster made every specific noise that it did. Total and utter rubbish.

The way I see it, the creators seem to have the first episode, the major theme and the last episode of season one sorted. Season one tends to meander for 80% and then suddenly get back on track for the penultimate episode of the season, with the last episode posing loads more questions. And then the producers have to scramble to come up with actual concepts for what they have created.

Unless the series is cancelled of course.

I remember the last episode of season one of Babylon 5 and how good I thought it was. But worried that we were going to get into Star Child territory with Delen in the cocoon. I was so happy when what actually happened actually made sense from the story structure/themes standpoint. no star child there.
But most series fail to follow through on their initial premise and present half baked ideas that do not match with the initial promise of the initial episode.

NuBSG has a perfect finale. Its just one season earlier than the producers want you to think.

Very few shows have the full story worked out, even though most seem to say they do.

Shows with "arcs" that last beyond a few episodes are a fairly new invention. Hour long dramas might include subplots that ran for a long time, even years, but the "whole story" was not usually so ambitious.

BREAKING BAD's fifth season premiere contained a 'flash-forward' 1 year into the future, teasing a scenario that would not be realized until the following season/series finale. They admitted that they had no idea at the time how they were going to get there.

Other examples - Jesse Pinkman was supposed to be killed during the second season, but showrunner Vince Gilligan liked Aaron Paul's performance so much that he drastically changed the course of the story. Another is Jonathan Banks' inclusion in the show - he was only brought on to play a scene that Bob Odenkirk was not available for. But then his character took off.

I have to give them credit - they sure made it look like they had it all worked out, though!
