The Targaryens seem like the better bet anyway. Although if they had announced a GoT series set in some other land other than Westeros that would have been interesting too.
I'll give this a shot. Hopefully they get a solid cast.

This new show is basically just an adaptation of the Fire & Blood book that Martin put out earlier this year.

Martin, who claims his natural pace of writing is from a paragraph to a page a day, manages to bang out a fictional history book with enough material for an entire new show. I love the guy's writing, but he's got a serious procrastination problem.

A paragraph a day? That’s fucking ridiculous.

"A paragraph a day? That’s fucking ridiculous"
That reminds me of a certain person who wrote the first issue of a certain comic, then the second, which i think was part two of two never happened, because he was far too busy. I thought at the time, a sentence a day and he`d have it ready for the artist in a month!

I'm still dreaming of a GoT approach to a certain Cimmerian barbarian's adventures...
Would love to see that as a regular TV series

The Song series is an incredibly dense work, set in a fictional world where Martin has developed an intricate and involved history, and populated it with hundreds of complex characters. I suspect his pace is in part due to the need for keeping all that straight. He’s gotten slower as the series progresses, which gives some weight to that theory.
Regardless, his writing is so good that I cannot criticize whatever his method is. And anyone that hasn’t produced this level of work, which is likely no one here, has any business calling his pace “fucking ridiculous.”

By his own admission, he's a notorious rewriter and easily distracted. Put those two factors together and it's no wonder that he produces work at a fairly slow pace.
