Oh and the MTIO #100 entry had this: (and I feel I should preemptively facepalm)

 QUOTE:
As of 2015, any depictions of the former twin towers at the site of the World Trade Center that appear on Earth-616 are now considered topical references per the Sliding Timescale. This is due to the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, and the fact that the timescale has slid forward enough that the Modern Age begins after the year 2001. That said, even though Earth-7984 operates on a Sliding Timescale as well, this does not mean that the appearance of the twin towers here is a topical reference due to the fact that this is a parallel and/or alternate dimension.

That sliding timescale sure is a slippery slope, once the swine is fully lubricated innit?

Out of curiosity, are there similar "explanations" on the entries from when Spidey met the original SNL gang? Or when the Avengers appeared on Letterman?

I miss the days when these questions were ignored--which was easy enough, since only a tiny sliver of fandom asked them.

Unfortunately, it became a "thing", like puzzling over Superman's blue hair, or why the Hulk's pant's are always purple. And, in fandom, once something becomes a "thing", there is little chance of stopping it, short of bloodshed!

Always remember: when these traditional tropes become "problems", those "problems" are with the readers, not the stories/characters.
