Yes, I am a proud owner of the XHY trades, but the psychopath in me needs the omnibus, too.
I don't know why I have the 3 X-men Omnibi, but then still bought the Dark Phoenix and Days of Future Past Omnbi separately.
I own the 9 tpbs of "Man of Steel" that DC released, but I will be first in line for the man of steel omnibus. Its a sickness, JB.

oh and Hidden Years... I NEEEEEEEEEEED a X:HY Omnibus
*********
I anticipate an X-Men by John Byrne Omnibus that would collect JB's original X-Men run plus Hidden Years. Dark Phoenix Saga got its own Omnibus and JB's original X-Men run was spread over two previous X-Men Omnibi, but this would be a chance to have it all under one cover along with Hidden Years. With an X-Men Omnibus, pretty much all of JB's non-licensed Marvel work will have been collected in Omnibus form, at least the stories that he's drawn. There could also be a volume or two of stories JB wrote that were drawn by others (Spider-Woman, Hulk, Iron Man, Thing, etc.)

Brandon, there is an X-MEN omnibus set titled "X-MEN: Children of The Atom" coming out in early 2020 that collects every X-Men issue and appearance from 1963 to 1980, ending with JB's last issue, so I doubt we'll see the omnibus you anticipate.
Edited to add: ...At least, not anytime soon.

I own the originals and TPB’s — unless there’s a new cover or something, I think I’ll have to pass on this one.

UGH! Read this morning on Bleeding Cool that DC has CANCELLED orders for the SUPERMAN: MAN OF STEEL OMNIBUS by JOHN BYRNE... the article does indicate that DC plans to resolicit it at a later date in a DIFFERENT format.
Since DC has already released all of the 1980's Superman reboot in a 9-volume trade paperback run, I can't think of what "different" format they could be contemplating.
Very disappointed, Marc

Off topic somewhat, but has there ever been even a whisper of an OMAC collection of any sort? This book demands the oversized, Absolute treatment.

I didn't get to read JB's OMAC. I would like to.

The omnibus will likely be reformatted into a series of hardcover collections like all the deluxe ones they've been putting out lately.
As for OMAC, he is a relatively obscure character so I doubt they would use the Absolute format on it. They tend to keep that for the more high profile projects.

When I convinced DC to allow me to do OMAC in black and white, it was on the understanding that they would subsequently be able to do a trade paperback reprint in color. This necessitated a modification of my intended approach to the use of gray tones, as I first had to draw the entire series without the, so that stats could be made. Once that was done, the pages were returned to me, and I added the tones. Then the editor lost the stats.

Amazon has changed its listing from a $125 cover price omnibus to a $49.99 cover price hardcover. The contents are still listed the same as what was intended for the omnibus, though. The page count has dropped from 1152 to 480 so this will contain about 42% of what the omnibus would have contained.
