New Dwayne Johnson game/ride based movie. Coincidentally, when ten year old me visited Disneyland, the Jungle Cruise ride was closed. I was seriously disappointed, but perhaps now I will get to see what I missed?

Movies about or based on theme park rides are hit (the first PIRATES OF THE
CARIBBEAN) and miss (pretty much everything else). Theme park rides or
lands based on movies can be fantastic, though!

I am interested to see this as I've come to trust Dwayne Johnson's instincts,
especially after the wonderful JUMANJI: WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE.

JB, if you want the true ride experience, Jungle Cruise is still alive at
Disneyland, so it's not too late. I think this is the perfect cue for your annual
"you should visit Los Angeles" post:

JB, you should visit Los Angeles! I will buy your Disneyland ticket, and you buy
all the churros.

I have sadly never been in Disneyland, but as a kid (younger than ten) I had a view-master reel or two about Disneyland, and everything seemed like a fairytale, including Jungle Cruise.
But a movie based on it sounds more like just a basic concept that needs to be fleshed out, so I'm guessing it's mostly the fake attractions in the film that will have any relevance for the real thing.

Like PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN, I would imagine this will be inspired by the ride, but not set literally on it!

A film that managed to be literally set on a Disney ride for 120 mins could have the potential for genius. Or utter banality. It's a fine line! Like the difference between Speed and Speed 2.

Mutant migrating hippos. They're hungry hungry too... sort of like gigantic piranha.

If the House of Mouse relied on factual truth, we might not have as many movies and attractions as we do. Although maybe I've gone too far with migrating hippos. Still, if Disney did it with lemmings...

I happened to be watching Pawn Stars yesterday when someone brought in some radio controled version of the Jungle Cruise ride.  They got to talkng about the real thing, and early in the process, Walt wanted real wild animals as part of the attraction.  They went with the automated ones since someone pointed out that the wild animals could be unpredictable.

The Disneyland ride represents rivers of multiple continents, which is why you get a mishmash of animals. The sequence in the trailer where Dwayne Johnson's character has a boat full of tourists has several nods to the ride, including the hippo, which appears to be faked by Johnson's character.

Looked completely uninspiring to me.  Hoping my kids will want to skip this one.

(Now where's that SPACE MOUNTAIN movie...???)
