Well, the Republican-led Senate just yesterday voted down 2 election security bills the Democrat-led House passed and sent their way. The Republicans feel that since the election worked out fine in ‘16, why do we need any more security?

Surely Trump and his yet "faithful" lackies couldn't expect that no one would demand vengeance on him? He's screwed over a lot of pretty powerful people; all they needed was the right method, manner, or tools to use against him. Such as that big ol' crowbar marked "Impeachment."

For weeks now, Trump and his GOP faithful have been denouncing the Dems impeachment process as unfair and even illegal.

The problem was that Nancy Pelosi had greenlighted the closed-door hearings without asking the House to actually authorize an impeachment inquiry. While there was nothing in the Constitution or in House rules that required this, it was an effective argument, because the leaking of private depositions was starting to smell unfair.

Now Pelosi says the House will vote on the inquiry on Thursday and Republicans are treating it as a bad trick - saying they'll oppose the vote that many of them had been demanding.

Crazy!

I mean we can all agree that giving them exactly what they asked for is *extremely* unfair to them.

It's telling that there are no Republicans who are attempting to defend Trump's actions... rather, they are going with the strategy of attacking the process as unfair.  They are basically conceding that what he did was wrong, but trying to create an impression that doesn't matter because those holding him accountable for his actions are biased and unfair.  It's basically "who cares if OJ committed those murders... the cops are racist so we should let him go."  Sadly, it might work.

Trump should welcome a transparent investigation into his dealings with Ukraine, as the call was 'perfect' and 'appropriate'. Surely it would help him for everyone to hear more about this perfection.

That’s not how it works Peter. It’s “everything is perfect so there’s no need to look into anything because it’s perfect.”

Yes, that's like his taxes, of which he pays millions, so there is no need for anyone to see his returns.

It absolutely boggles the mind that there are people willing to sacrifice their democracy to embrace this clown's hearsay comments as fact. Just imagine how many American citizens have already parroted his "phony emoluments clause" comment. These would be the same citizens that have most likely never read the constitution or a summary of it and the amendments. I think even Phineas Taylor Barnum would be shocked these days at 'Merica's sucker quotient.

Republicans are all paying close attention to the KY gubernatorial race.

They're not just watching the returns, but Trump's political capital as they make decisions about how to handle impeachment and their own future.

Matt Bevin just lost in Kentucky. Big win for Dems.
