Iraq voted to expel all U.S. and coalition troops from it's borders, catching Boris Johnson and many others totally by surprise, and I guess the three thousand troops suddenly being mobilized won't be going to Baghdad. Guess where U.S. troops keep ending up? On Saudi Arabian soil, the holy dirt of which Bin Laden was so frenzied about being despoiled by infidels.

Now Trump says he is targeting 52 Iranian sites... 52 for the number of hostages Iran took way back in late 1979. WTF? What has that to do with Trump? He's going to retaliate based on something for forty years ago? Now Iran says it will target 3,000 U.S. sites, and there are reports the Iranian general was where he was at the request of the Saudis for a meeting mediated by Iraqis.

Remember when a president of the U.S. had a word that meant something? For all the critiques of Jimmy Carter his word meant something, Reagan not so much as he sold arms to Iran as well as supplying Hussein in Iraq and funneling funds to anti-socialist mercs in Central America. And of course Nixon was for along time the poster child of a lying pres. Somehow things start with a George Washington who "cannot tell a lie", and "honest" Abe Lincoln, and devolve to the dark side Dick Cheney bragged about (you know, the guy whose arm's length raked in the billions in Haliburton military contracts when VP, and they spend four times the amount in Iraq compared to Afghanistan at the same time, then moved Haliburton headquarters to the middle east). All the news channels and news websites and Americans seem less informed than ever. :^(

Quit rewarding incompetence and overlooking corruption? The Abu Ghraib thing was warning enough, but surely not to put in some real estate con man to drain the swamp and make America great. Talk about out of the frying pan into the fire.

And now were back to the corrupt deciding what a trial will be, something with no new evidence or witnesses, and they are prepared to outright rewrite the rules to force the articles being forwarded or proceeding without them to what they have explicitly stated is a done deal monkey court coordinated with the subject of the trial. Nobody can take the word of any of these people after this surely. I don't know if I feel sorry or disgusted that the bold exiters from the EU were banking so much on Trump promises, will they even be able to keep/force Scotland to stay with them? People will look back and all will say, what were people thinking even listening to Trump on anything, never mind actually putting any stock in what he says (which is almost all whining what a victim he is and how somebody else is always to blame)?

Charles - you mentioned "threatening" war crimes. Assassinating heads of state is a war crime. We're way past threats.

Ms. Jansen - You make excellent points. I still believe Trump is mentally challenged, and while he knows what he wants, he's so impulsive that he acts first and leave the debris to be cleaned up by his state department - which is pretty devastated these days.

I think that today, the word of the President means something. It means that what he says is a lie and a betrayal, and that it cannot be trusted for more than a bum kopek.

Impeachment is fine for what it is, but I wonder what provisions the Founding Fathers intended to handle a suddenly insane president with celerity? Because we don't have time for an impeachment any more. There are NO checks on this madman.

I'm pretty much convinced that Trump, both literally & figuratively, is the Anti-Christ.

If anyone's gonna help bring about Armageddon, it's this guy.

Mitch was on the floor of the Senate today saying if the House doesn't send the impeachment articles over to them by next week, the Senate is moving on with the "business of the American people"  --whatever that means.

As long as McConnell keeps advertising the trial will be rigged - and he IS doing THAT - Pelosi is smart to hold off... no sane person walks willingly into a "trap".

Pelosi should announce she'll send the articles over the day after the State of the Union address.

It looks like she is caving, have to reward the wrong-doers again. New evidence and witnesses, why that'd be like a real trial... can't have that! So unfair. Oh hey look over there, Iran did a bad thing everyone!

It means "taking care of Republicans in office."

While Germany pulls out its military trainers from Iraq in the wake of the shitstorm following Suleimani's assassination (an assassination that ISIS has praised as an act of God), Trump wants to know why he didn't get the Nobel Peace Prize...

As capricious as Trump is, I will give him credit for utter reliability in one area: those rallies! Never too busy for those.

Pelosi has announced the articles of impeachment will be sent to the Senate next week. Her motivations are entirely her own. Some Democrat Senators voiced concern that by not sending the articles, it gave the appearance that this matter wasn't really urgent. Pelosi may think it is better to let the Republicans wear the stain of running a kangaroo court rather than hold back on the articles any longer. Also, with several Democrat Senators running for the presidential nomination, the longer she waited, the more crucial the schedule of the campaign would be when they would have to leave the campaign trail and stay in Washington for the trial.

Yes Peter, he always makes time to connect with the people... you have a problem with that? ;)

There's an old proverb which goes "He who builds on the people, builds on the mud". It can be interpreted in many ways, but in this case, I'd suggest that it's an appropriate warning that if you rely on "the people" to dump Trump, you're taking a huge risk.

Trump must be dumped from the top; I have a very bad feeling that if left to "the people", he will scrape through again in November. So I can understand the Democrats' desperation in trying to figure out a strategy to get rid of Trump any way possible before the election.

That's why I support the following candidate in 2020:

Impeached Trump has been raising ungodly amounts of money for his reelection campaign, so billionaire Mike Bloomberg is vowing to bleed him dry to assure he’s defeated.... even if he's NOT the Democratic nominee.

If this is true, it’s great news.... Bloomberg isn't my preferred candidate, but this announcement indicates he's putting country first. Bloomberg has all the attributes Trump lacks, not to mention the billions.
