Some years ago someone pointed out to me how King Kong's size is constantly in flux during the 1933 movie -- sometimes he's around 25 feet tall, sometimes around 60 feet, often somewhere in-between.

Needless to say, I didn't notice this at all when I first saw KING KONG at age ten.

Today, of course, in the age of (relentless!) CGI, everyone would notice.

The scene with the elevated railway is one often cited in Kong's lack of consistent scale, which is why there's a specific shot in Jackson's version that shows Kong moving under an L track and not being tall enough to reach the cars; a shout-out to those "in the know" who are much too concerned with these sorts of details.

Just a couple of days ago I learned that the doorbell in Murder by Death was stock audio of Fay Wray screaming.
