A person who declines to date a member of the opposite sex, for whatever reason, can do so without being subjected to labels. "S/he's not my type" should be sufficient justification.
The same must apply for members of the transgender community. Identifying as something other than the biological form one inhabits should not command special privileges. We do not want to see an Orwellian society, where all are equal, but some are more equal than others.

I agree. Sadly, in the age of the internet this common sense and reasonable rule would be seen as being unreasonable and bigoted by many on the internet.

It would be interesting to look 100 years into the Future, to see how all this will have sorted itself out--as well as what else will have come along to take its place!

Good point, Mr. Byrne. If only there were a topic here on the board to discuss what's going to happen in the future... (walks away, whistling innocently.)

The sports unfairness issues might become a thing of the past now that they seem to be starting treatment for people as kids. Human beings are rather messy things, confusing, demanding, emotional... maybe it would be nicer if it were simpler but nature itself seems to love variety. Things are a lot more unisex, at least in the west, than they were in the '50s, but it will always be too much so for some and not enough for others I guess.
The BBC had a documentary recently on trans people living in Pakistan under a more strict Muslim climate. I'm sure the last thing they would care about fighting over would be access to women's salons, changing rooms or bathrooms. I find those strange things to be so rights preoccupied over.

If the trans athlete debate wasn't messy enough, now women who were born with high levels of testosterone will be banned from competing in some Olympic track races.
